The international conference “ION TRANSPORT IN ORGANIC AND INORGANIC MEMBRANES” will be held in Tuapse, Russia, on May 11-16, 2009. The conference is organized by the Russian Membrane Society, Kuban State University, Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, RAS, and European Membrane House with financial support of RFBR and MemBridge European FP7 project. The Conference is devoted to fundamental and applied problems of membrane and sorption processes.

The annual membrane conference in Tuapse gathers the membranists from Russia and other former USSR countries as well as European researchers. This year the conference will be more representative, we are waiting for up to 200 participants.

Scientific topics:
- synthesis of organic and inorganic membranes;
- ion exchange and sorption;
- structure and properties of charged membranes;
- ion and water transport in membranes and membrane systems;
- bipolar membranes;
- modification of membrane and electrode materials, actual problems of membrane electrochemistry, interphase phenomena;
- mass transfer intensification in electromembrane modules;
- desalination, concentration, purification and separation of liquid mixtures by electrodialysis, hybrid membrane methods;
- membranes in hydrogen energy;
- nanoscience and nanotechnology in membrane materials and processes.

Round tables:
- Membrane materials for alternative sources of energy;
- Problem of water treatment for medicine;
- Perspectives of electromembrane technology development.

Integrated events:
• Partnering conference in the framework of MemBridge European FP7 project. The aim is the creation of scientific international nanoconsortiums in order to develop new joint collaboration projects of different scales;
• Industrially driven event: visiting the station for mineral water conditioning;
• School for young researchers (including reviewing lectures of leading scientists; scientific presentations and poster session of young researchers; demonstration of laboratory equipment, manuals and school-books.
