One of the first projects supported by the Seed Investment Fund of the Russian Venture Company was started from a technological partnership of Medbiopharm Ltd. (Obninsk, Kaluga reg.) and the Chemistry Department of the Moscow State University named after Lomonosov. The partnership was established in 2004 with assistance from the Russian Technology Transfer Network.

The project is focused at setting up a production line for immunochromatographic test stripes «Cardiomarker» that detect cardiac infarction at very early stages. The developed method is unique in terms of the preciseness and reliability parameters, easiness of use and low cost. The test-stripes can diagnose cardiac infarction in 10-15 minutes, and also detect its closeness from the first signs, several hours before the attack.

This opportunity originates from a partnership established with RTTN’s assistance. In 2003, RTTN specialists developed and disseminated a technology offer of Medbiopharm Ltd. “Development of immunochromatographic tests for express-diagnostics of infections, endocrine and oncological deceases, presence of narcotics and other hazardous substances in human body”. Quite soon, in February 2004, a partner was found: the Chemistry Department of the Moscow State University named after Lomonosov. RTTN team provided assistance in the establishment of contacts and preliminary negotiations. Later, this cooperation lead to partnerships with the R&D Institute for Human Ecology and Hygiene named after A.V. Sysin and the R&D Institute for Bio-Organic Chemistry named after Academicians M.M. Shemyakin and Yu.A. Ovchinnikov.
